Description

For the .NET developer, Xamarin has democratized modern cross-platform mobile development - you get reuse C#/XAML skills towards native iOS/Android/UWP apps all from a single code base. And mobile apps do not live in silos - modern cloud services are here to help. Microsoft Cognitive Services enables you to build intelligent apps backed by cloud artificial intelligence and machine learning. Throw in polished Telerik UI and sky is the limit to what your mobile apps can do.

Join Microsoft and Progress Telerik for a free, half-day event to learn the fundamentals of Xamarin.Forms and Cognitive Services and take a deep dive into a real world application built with both. Lunch, code, knowledge, and giveaways will be yours for the taking.

Sessions

Xamarin.Forms Fundamentals
The democratization of cross-platform mobile development for .NET developers – it’s a reality now with Xamarin becoming a part of Microsoft. You can design, develop, debug, test and deploy iOS/Android/Windows apps – all from inside of Visual Studio on Windows or Mac. Let’s look at the fundamentals of Xamarin.Forms development for C# developers.

Cognitive Services Deep Dive
Learn how to make your apps smarter by implementing computer vision, emotion recognition, speech detection, language understanding, and more with just a few lines of code using Microsoft Cognitive Services.

Building an App - Telerik Tagit
Walk through the creation of Telerik Tagit, a slick mobile app built with Xamarin.Forms. It uses Microsoft’s Computer Vision API on the back end and Telerik UI for Xamarin on the front end. Whether you are about to embark on your first Xamarin application project or you’ve written many, you’re certain to learn something new. In this 45-minute demo (heavy on the code, light on the slides), we’ll cover:

  • What is Telerik Tagit and how it was built

  • How to implement Microsoft’s Computer Vision API to capture images and tag them with search keywords in the applications

  • How to implement Telerik UI for Xamarin to deliver a stunning UI and delightful UX
