Event Details

In a startup, you are always selling.  Whether it is an investor, customer or team member, you have to sell your company, your vision, your product, your team and yourself.  Most founders or even sales folks make rookie mistakes while communicating because of lack of practice and training.

This is a course not about PowerPoint or presentations but about communicating your ideas.  It will rely on fundamentals of rhetoric, debate and argument to give you yet another skill set to close a deal.

This course will be divided into three broad sections:

1.       Learn basics of body language: most communication is non verbal

2.       Learn to craft your case: framing, structure & story-telling

3.       Practice “thinking on your feet” by responding to questions

Atul Singh is the Founder & Editor-in-Chief of Fair Observer, a journal that analyzes the deeper issues behind the news from many perspectives. It has more than 800 contributors originating from over 40 countries, an audience in 160 countries, and eminent advisers from across the world such as John Bruton, the former Irish Prime Minister who began the Northern Irish Peace Process, and Jaswant Singh, the former Indian Foreign Minister. Singh has been awarded a green card for extraordinary ability in the light of his achievement as a media entrepreneur in the field of foreign policy and international affairs.  He has spoken at MIT, Yale, Harvard, Columbia and the UN, and appeared on both radio and television.

Singh graduated with an MBA from the Wharton School with a triple major in 2010.  Earlier, he worked as a corporate lawyer in London for Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, whose clients include the Queen and the Bank of England.  He studied Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Oxford on the Radhakrishnan Scholarship, debated extensively at the Oxford Union and was involved in special operations in India as an officer in the rugged frontier regions of Kashmir and Nagaland, where he survived three assassination attempts.

There will be beer, wine and light snacks.

**Early Bird tickets are $25. $30 will be charged at the door.
