Event Details

Twitter is a great tool to connect with other NERTs, to trade preparedness tips and it is playing an increasing role in disaster response. If you have taken one of our full three-hour NERT Twitter classes in the past or participated in a twitter drill exercise, then please join us again to practice these new skills.

We will jump right into practicing sending and receiving messages on Twitter (Staging Area to/from Battalion Station) and practice filling out forms.

*Prerequisite: You must have taken a NERT Twitter class before 2017 or have taken the NERT Twitter Advanced class or have participated in a NERT Twitter drill exercise.

Reminder:  Bring your smart device and a charge chord in case you run low on battery power.

SFFD Neighborhood Emergency Response Team (NERT)

NERT is a community based training program dedicated to a neighbor-helping-neighbor approach.  It is beneficial for individuals, neighborhood groups and community-based organizations in San Francisco.  Through this program, individuals will learn the basics of personal preparedness and prevention.  The training also includes hands-on disaster skills that will help individuals respond to a personal emergency as well as act as members of a neighborhood response team.

A typical NERT volunteer is not one type. The NERT volunteer is anyone who is active and involved in the community--or wants to be.  San Francisco is made up of many neighborhoods. We are training to be one ready community when it counts. The Emergency Response is key but the Neighborhood Team comes first.
