Event Details

Nephrology Today & Tomorrow 2012 provides an opportunity for renal professionals to improve clinical processes and to achieve desired outcomes with current professional knowledge.


Target audience: Nephrology healthcare professionals: Physicians, PAs, Nephrology Nurses, Dietitians, Social Workers, Patient Care Technicians (PCT). Renal patient sessions will be held Satruday morning.

9:30 - 10:45 am State of ESRD in Texas - Listen as Glenda Harbert, RN, CNN, CPHQ, Executive Director of the ESRD Network of Texas, Dr. Melvin Laski, Chairman of the ESRD Network 14 Execuitve Committee,  and Dr. Ruben Velez, Chairman of the Network 14 Medical Review Board (MRB) discuss the events of the past year, quality improvement projects and initiatives and future issues that will face Network 14 and Texas ESRD dialysis and transplant facilities.

Additional General Information:

Handouts and Materials:  In order to maintain low cost and become more eco-friendly the Network is going “Green”.  Beginning  JUNE  15, 2011, speaker  presentations and handouts will be posted on our website for your to print off  prior to the start of the conference.  If you need to print at the hotel, you would have to use the hotel business center at your own expense.


Suggested Attire: Business or professional dress is preferred for all educational sessions. Keep in mind that hotel temperatures are not constant and a jacket or sweater is recommended for the educational sessions. Comfortable shoes are recommended for your comfort in walking to and from sessions.

Photographs: The ESRD Network of Texas, Inc. occasionally uses photographs of participants in its newsletters or website. Your confirmed attendance at Nephrology Today & Tomorrow, gives the Network permission to publish and utilize photos that are obtained during the annual meeting. No videotaping or photographing Sessions is allowed.

Childcare Arrangements: Children WILL NOT be allowed in the educational sessions or exhibit areas. If you plan to bring children; please make all necessary  child care arrangements prior to arrival to the meeting.

Parking:There is limited parking at the hotel. Overflow parking is across the street at $10.00 per day. The Network nor the Hotel has any juridiction over the third party parking. It is suggested that you bring cash and request a receipt for reimbusement from your company.

 Visit Dallas: A perfect vacation city, Dallas offers an array of exciting attractions from shopping, live entertainment and sports venues; to museums, restaurants and universities with convenient access to local interstates making the OMNI Mandalay at Las Colinas central to everything that the “Big D” has to offer. The hotel is conveniently located near shopping centers or take a gondola boat ride on the Mandalay Canal in Las Colinas – canal is adjacent to hotel.  Six Flags is 12 miles away!

Who We Are

Network #14 encompasses the state of Texas, which is the second largest state in land area behind Alaska, with 267 thousand square miles of land. Texas is also the second most populous state in the nation behind California, with an estimated population of 26 million residents in 2012, increasing 1.7 percent from the 2011 estimate. Calculated from the 2010 census, Texas experienced the second highest estimated numeric increase among states in 2012 (1.7%) behind North Dakota (2.2%). Though California still has the largest population, it only saw an estimated increase of 0.9 percent in 2012. Eight percent of the nation’s population resided in Texas in 2012. The metropolitan areas of Austin, Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, and San Antonio continued to grow in 2012, accounting for over 60 percent of growth, most of which occurred in the Houston Metroplex, closely followed by the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

ESRD Network #14 is the largest Network in number of total patients (53,776), followed by Network #6, and in the top three largest Network in number of dialysis Providers (542) along with Network #6 and Network #9 at year end 2012. The Network office is staffed by 12 full time and 2 part time employees.
