NEMC is proud to present this unique opportunity to explore, perform, learn, and laugh with one of the most beloved presenters in music education, Dr. Peter Boonshaft. Our morning session, which was successfully presented at the NAfME National Conference this past year, will allow band directors of all levels to develop their skills and understanding while playing in an ensemble. It will be a combination reading session of new works for band from Alfred Publishing, and the exciting new Sound Innovations Ensemble books. Demonstrations of rehearsal techniques and effective conducting tools, as well as creative warm-ups and ensemble development concepts will be covered, all with the goal of creating rehearsals that are even more productive, efficient and effective. Sample background instruments will be provided by KHS America for use in the session. NEMC will have plenty of new student product and percussion on hand, but participants are encouraged to bring their instruments/mouthpieces.
Afternoon sessions will include…
- Basic band instrument repair presented by NEMC certified Technicians
"Bring your questions about common band instrument repair issues encountered in your classroom. Tips and tricks will be presented to get you out of a jam and you will learn when it really is time to send it "to the shop".
