Description

Celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Jazz Appreciation Month in Philadelphia! The Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy is bringing FREE performances, dance classes and more to community spaces around the city with 10 free Neighborhood Jazz Days!

Join us on Friday, April 24, 2020 at 8:00 p.m. at the Venice Island Performing Arts & Recreation Center for the ninth free Neighborhood Jazz Day. This event will feature appearances by the Dan McCain Jazz Quartet presented by the Philly POPS and Ella Gahnt and the E.G. Trio.

Presented by The Philly POPS and led by Student Co-Op Dan McCain, The Dan McCain Jazz Quartet features musicians from University of the Arts and a musician from The Philly POPS performing jazz standards that highlight the iconic Philadelphia Sound, as well as original music. Ella Gahnt is known as Philly’s Class Act, the recipient of the 2019 Philly Celebrates Jazz Award, and brand ambassador of The Women’s Coalition for Empowerment, Inc. The vocalist will tell stories in her own unique way while honoring the vocal heroes in jazz that paved the way for her to share her passion with accompaniment by the E.G. Trio.

The Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy presents Philly Celebrates Jazz, a celebration of Jazz Appreciation Month in April. All month long, OACCE showcases the influence of jazz and raises awareness about Philadelphia’s rich jazz heritage.
