Description

Celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Jazz Appreciation Month in Philadelphia! The Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy is bringing FREE performances, dance classes and more to community spaces around the city with 10 free Neighborhood Jazz Days!

Join us on Monday, April 13, 2020 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Tacony Library for the third free Neighborhood Jazz Day. This event will feature appearances by the Lady Hoofers Tap Ensemble and the Children of Adam Band.

The Lady Hoofers Tap Ensemble will invite audience members to join in call and response games, listen to stories about historic tap dancers, and learn the Shim Sham, tap dance’s National Anthem. The all-women ensemble produces original works of choreography and preserves the tradition of improvisation in American rhythm tap. Children of Adam, PHL Live’s 2019 winners as Live’s “Top World Music Band,” present a hybrid of jazz, fusion, funk, R&B, soul and more with multilingual lyrics that celebrate the musical diversity of humanity.

The Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy (OACCE) presents Philly Celebrates Jazz, a celebration of Jazz Appreciation Month in April. All month long, OACCE presents jazz-inspired events in Philadelphia’s neighborhoods and promotes jazz happenings across the city.
