Description

Celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Jazz Appreciation Month in Philadelphia! The Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy is bringing FREE performances, dance classes and more to community spaces around the city with 10 free Neighborhood Jazz Days!

Join us on Thursday, April 16, 2020 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Lawncrest Recreation Center for the fourth free Neighborhood Jazz Day. This event will feature appearances by the Arpeggio Jazz Ensemble, Jupiter Blue, and Emmanuel Ohemeng III and Perpetual Motion.

The Arpeggio Jazz Ensemble has been improvising and innovating on stages around Philadelphia and the world since 1979. Their latest series fuses a variety of musical styles with Jazz and sub-genres of Jazz, telling a unique story as only Arpeggio can. Jupiter Blue, Sun Ra's Arkestra members D.Hotep and Trara "Jupiter Girl Blue" Middleton, bring the unexpected from their electronics, electric guitar, celestial vocals, and violin; calling forth jazz-sourced vocals and rhythms, harmonic soundscapes, and shadows of unseen worlds. Emmanuel Ohemeng III and Perpetual Motion is a jazz fusion group that combines the elements of jazz, hip hop and rock to express their views and ideas about life and current events using the platform of music.

The Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy (OACCE) presents Philly Celebrates Jazz, a celebration of Jazz Appreciation Month in April. All month long, OACCE presents jazz-inspired events in Philadelphia’s neighborhoods and promotes jazz happenings across the city.
