Description

Celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Jazz Appreciation Month in Philadelphia! The Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy is bringing FREE performances, dance classes and more to community spaces around the city with 10 free Neighborhood Jazz Days!

Join us on Saturday, April 25, 2020 from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. at the Juniata Park Older Adult Center for the tenth and final free Neighborhood Jazz Day of 2020. This event will feature appearances by Jahwula, Victor Vieira-Branco's Split Cities, and Weez the Peeples Collective.

Vocalist Jahwula will celebrate the women of smooth jazz and explore the evolution and influence of smooth jazz on pop, soul and other genres. Vibraphonist Victor Vieira-Branco teams up with the Split Cities band to investigate the in-between of composition and collective improvisational energies. Formed in 2012 as Buskers on the streets of Philadelphia and founded by Karen "Magic Fingaz" Smith, Weez the Peeples Collective is about music, poetry and sounds that connects to the masses.

The Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy (OACCE) presents Philly Celebrates Jazz, a celebration of Jazz Appreciation Month in April. All month long, OACCE presents jazz-inspired events in Philadelphia’s neighborhoods and promotes jazz happenings across the city.
