Event description

Description

The City of Boulder is excited to launch the second year of the Block Party Trailer! We are expanding to allow for one-day reservations on both Saturday and Sunday, rather than just for the full weekend; exact timing for delivery and pick-up may vary. Instructions for use of the trailer are available online at bouldercolorado.gov/neighborhood-services/neighborhood-block-party-trailer and in the trailer itself.

The trailer is intended for public use at neighborhood events--those where people are invited based on geography--to socialize and build relationships. The idea is that the trailer serves as a "party in a box" containing chairs, tables, folding picnic tables, coolers, games, zero waste containers and even Type III Barricades, which are required for street closure (remember, you must have a block party permit to legally close a street). Once reserved, the combination lock will be provided, via email, to the host. Registration does require acknowledgement that the host has read all information related to care and contents of the trailer and agrees to follow proper procedures. The person/group reserving the trailer assumes responsibility for both the trailer and its contents.

There are three scenarios in which the trailer might be used for a neighborhood event and each has its own additional set of steps, reservations and permits. Reservation of the trailer does not in any way impact the additional requirements and must be initiated independently of this reservation process. You will be asked to identify which scenario you will be utilizing the trailer within and to identify how you plan to move forward within that specific process.

1. Trailer will be utilized completely on private property with no impact to public right of way or other space utilized by the public (private residence, HOA pool or park, apartment/condo parking lot, private street, etc.)

Requirement: Letter from the property owner indicating participation/permission for use and a full description of how your event will be isolated from the general public and not impact the public right-of-way in any way. Submit to neighborhoodservices@bouldercolorado.gov and place your name and block party trailer in the subject line of the email to assure receipt.

2. Trailer will be utilized in public right-of-way; street may or may not be closed but the right-of-way will in some way potentially be impacted (parties potentially impacting use of city streets, bike path, median or sidewalk)

Requirement: Block Party Application must be completed. bouldercolorado.gov/city-manager/block-parties

3. Trailer will be utilized at or near a public park (includes recreation and senior centers or their lots)

Requirement: Parks and Recreation has developed a streamlined permit process to encourage neighborhood gatherings. The new permit process eliminates deposits, allows gathering to occur outside of the four hour time blocks used for Shelter Rentals, authorizes low level amplified sound and negates the insurance requirement. For more information please call (303) 413-7222 and follow process for reservation/permitting.
