Event description

Description

As part of LA Law Library’s Pro Bono Week celebration, learn about the Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program and why it is the largest source for funding for low-income housing in California. LIHTC-financed units provide a source of affordable housing for thousands of Californians, as a certain number of units in LIHTC buildings must be rent restricted based on the median area income. Learn what makes LIHTC housing unique, rights and protections that apply specifically to LIHTC tenants, how LIHTC interacts with HUD and other subsidies, and how to navigate the LIHTC application and recertification process.

Presented by:

Natalie Minev, Equal Justice Works VISTA Legal Fellow, Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles (LAFLA) (www.lafla.org)

Jennifer Sperling, Impact Litigation Attorney, Bet Tzedek (https://www.bettzedek.org/)
