Saturday April 14, 2018 @ 6:00pm: An Annual Wildland Fire Refresher is required to retain a Red Card. Or if you want to enhance your knowledge in fireline safety, current issues, and what is happening locally, around the state, and nationally, the RT 130 is a great class you.

S130/190 Session "A" Basic Firefighter
Session A. April 14/15, April 21/22, 8:00am-5:00pm. MUST attend both weekends. An introductory but required class for Red Card qualification. You will gain knowledge of basic incident management organization, firefighting techniques, suppression equipment, safety, strategy/tactics, and fire behavior. Includes 1 full day of Field Training. Instructed Nebraska Forest Service's Justin Nickless, Volunteer Firefighters, US Forest Service, and State Fire Marshals.

April 14 8:00am-5:00pm, April 15, 8:00am-12:00pm- Course is designed to meet the needs of the Advanced Firefighter Type 1 (FFT1). The course is interactive and contains several tactical decision games designed to facilitate learning the objectives and class discussion. Topics include: fireline reference materials, communication, leadership, and tactical decision making. Instructed by US Forest Service and State Fire Marshals.

S200 Initial Attack IC (Type 4 IC)
This course is designed to meet the training needs of the incident commander type 4 (ICT4). It is presented in a discussion/exercise format. The six instructional units include Foundation Skills, Intelligence Gathering and Documentation, Size Up the Incident, Develop a Plan of Action, Post-fire Activities, Evaluating Incident Objectives and Manage the Incident. All the skills needed to be an Incident Commander while initial attacking a growing wildfire. Instructed by US Forest Service's Brian Daunt and Aaron Nellen.

S212 Wildland Fire Chain Saws
April 18-22, 8:00am-5:00pm- Course lessons provide introduction to the function, maintenance and use of engine powered chain saws, and their tactical wildland fire application. Three field days support entry level training for firefighters with little or no previous experience in operating a chain saw, providing hands-on cutting experience in surroundings similar to fireline situations. 3 Field Days of cutting experience will be offered. Bringing your own Chainsaw and safety equipment is requested, but not mandatory. Instructed by Castle Rock Firefighter and Stihl chainsaw mechanic Chris Hinkle.

S230 Crew Boss (Single Resource)
April 21/22, 2018. 8:00am-5:00pm. S230 is the required class to obtain any Single Resource Boss certification (ENGB, FIRB, CRWB, HEQB, FELB). The course will describe the responsibilities of Single Resource Boss prior to mobilization, during a fire, and during demobilization, identifying hazards, and implementing tactics. 1 Field Day will be incorporated into the class. This course was developed using a blended approach to learning. Students are required to complete the online training portion of the course and pass an online assessment prior to taking the class. Please print the certificate at the end of the online test and bring to class for verification. The required precourse work can be found at https://onlinetraining.nwcg.gov. Instructed by Nebraska Forest Service's Matt Holte and the US Forest Service.

S231 Engine Boss (blended)
April 20, 2018, 8:00am-5:00pm: This is a skill course designed to produce student proficiency in the performance of the duties associated with Engine Boss, single resource (ENGB). Topics include engine and crew capabilities and limitations, information sources, fire sizeup considerations, tactics, and wildland/urban interface. S230 Single Resource/Crewboss is strongly recommended to compliment this class. This course was developed using a blended approach to learning. Students are required to complete the online training portion of the course and pass an online assessment prior to taking the class. S290 Intermediate Wildland Fire Behavior
April 14-17, 2018, 8:00am-5:00pm: This course is instructed by a qualified Fire Behavior Analyst and Fire Weather Meteorologist and is designed to prepare the prospective fireline supervisor to undertake safe and effective fire management operations. It serves to develop fire behavior prediction knowledge by analyzing weather, fuel, and topography influences. Instructed by Windcave National Park's Al Stover and the National Weather Service's Shawn Jacobs.

S330 Task Force Leader
April 16-17, 2018, 8:00am-5:00pm- This course is designed to meet the training requirements of Task Force Leader and Strike Team Leader. Most examples and exercises in this package are specific to wildland fire suppression, although some all-hazards exercises are included. The objectives of the class are to demonstrate the ability to apply the Risk Management Process, identify and describe the responsibilities of a Task Force/Strike Team Leader (TFLD/STL)and demonstrate the ability to apply appropriate tactics with assigned resources organized into strike teams or task forces. Instructed by Wyoming BLM's Jeff Liday and Castle Rock Firefighter Chris Hinkle.

Advanced Wilderness First Ad
April 20-22, 2018, 8:00am-5:00pm: Wildland Firefighters and outdoor enthusiasts can be injured in many ways while in the outdoors. Learn first aid protocols for “remote” response (ambulance is more than 30 minutes away). This is the first aid you need to handle issues and injuries in remote or wilderness areas. Also, first aid techniques in this class are more advanced than a standard first aid course…with more choices…plus higher performance standards. This first aid works anywhere, as you also learn the traditional “rapid” response protocols for everyday situations. Students will receive CPR certification, Advanced Wilderness First Aid Certification, and Continuing Education hours for Nebraska EMTs. Instructed by Colorado First Aid. Nebraska Wildfire Incident Command
April 14-15, 2018, 8:00am-5:00pm: Nebraska is prone to large wildfires every year due to our fuels, weather, and topography. Discussion will center around the historical large wildfires of this state and how they were mitigated. We will discuss strategy and tactics and this will be a very interactive presentation that will require heavy student participation during the scenarios. The Incident Command System will be used for this training. Topics to include: Large Wildfire History, Typing of the Incident dependent on the resources required, Wildfire Size-Up Techniques, Resource Requirements and Accountability, Strategy and Tactics employed during TYPE 1 through TYPE 5 Incidents, Recognition of “No Win Situations”, Utilization of Heavy Equipment and Conducting Burn Out Operations, Incident Command Post Requirements, Requesting Local, State, and Federal Resources, Communications Problems, and Wildland Fireground Safety. There will be numerous interactive sand table simulations where the students will demonstrate their abilities to control the wildfire and not let the wildfire control their actions. SimTable Scenario Class
April 14, 2018, 8:00am-5:00pm: The Nebraska Forest Service recently purchased SimTables. This sand table meets computer technology allows users to go anywhere in Nebraska or the country to simulate wildfire and all hazard incidents. Class will discuss how fuels, weather, and topography influence wildfire behavior near your local area and will help form preplans for areas of your districts which are of large concern. Be assigned to an engine or crew and watch the simulator fight the fire with your assigned tactics. Instructed by Nebraska Forest Service's Mark Frickle and Seth Peterson

Starting with advanced map and compass techniques, the class will progress toward modern GPS and phone applications that are valuable for the outdoors and wildland firefighting. Pack Test
April 21, 2018, 4:00pm The National Standard pack test for wildland firefighters is a 3 mile walk, with a 45 pound vest, within 45 minutes. This physical test is required for all individuals that want to receive a Wildland Firefighting Red Card.
