S130/S190/L180 Session "A" Basic Wildland Firefighter
Session A. April 1 & 2, April 8 & 9, 8:00am-5:00pm. MUST attend both weekends. An introductory but required class for Red Card qualification. You will gain knowledge of basic incident management organization, firefighting techniques, suppression equipment, safety, strategy/tactics, and fire behavior. Includes 1 full day of Field Training.

April 2nd. 6:00pm-10:00pm: A yearly requirement in order to obtain a Red Card. This 4 hour class will cover safety concerns from the previous wildfire season, a wildfire simulation/scenario, and up to date information on Nebraska Wildfire programs.

RT130 Session "B" Wildfire Refresher

S212 Wildland Fire Chain Saws
April 5-9, 8:00am-5:00pm- Course lessons provide introduction to the function, maintenance and use of internal combustion engine powered chain saws, and their tactical wildland fire application. Field exercises support entry level training for firefighters with little or no previous experience in operating a chain saw, providing hands-on cutting experience in surroundings similar to fireline situations. 3 Field Days of cutting experience will be offered. Bringing your own Chainsaw is requested, but not mandatory.

S215 Fire Operations in the Wildland Urban Interface
April 1 & 2, 8:00am-5:00pm: Instructional units include firefighter safety in the interface, managing human factors in the interface, pre-incident planning, size up, & initial strategy, structure triage, structure protection overview, tactics in the interface, action assessment, plan update, & after action review. Instructor brings experience from the devastating WUI Black Forest Fire in Colorado.

April 8-9, 8:00am-5:00pm This course introduces the roles and responsibilities of a Firing Boss and outlines the duties of the other personnel who may engage in a firing operation. The course discusses and illustrates common firing devises and techniques.

April 8 & 9, 8:00am-5:00pm: This is a skill course designed to produce student proficiency in the performance of the duties associated with Engine Boss, Single Resource (ENGB). Topics include engine and crew capabilities & limitations, information sources, fire sizeup considerations, tactics, & wildland/urban interface.

April 5 & 6th, 6:00pm-10:00pm: This course covers aircraft types & capabilities, aviation management & safety for flying in & working with agency aircraft, tactical & logistical uses of aircraft, & requirements for helicopter take-off & landing areas. Aviation programs in Nebraska will be addressed.

L280 Followership to Leadership
April 1 & 2, 8:00am-5:00pm: This training course is designed as a self-assessment opportunity for individuals preparing to step into a leadership role. The course combines one day of classroom instruction followed by a second day in the field with students working through a series of problem solving events in small teams. Topic areas include: Leadership values & principles, transition changes for new leaders, situational leadership, team cohesion factors, and ethical decision making.

Rural Water Supply
April 8 & 9, 8:00am-5:00pm: This class will address the need for a water supply in the rural areas, system delivery, what resources are available, drop tank work, size of lines needed, portable pumps, what devices are available, and the incident command system and how it works with rural water supply. Methods to fill and dump tenders will be shown as well as providing water to remote areas via dump tanks and portable pumps. The first morning of this class will be in the classroom and the balance will be outside performing rural water delivery. The second day will be spent supplying, moving, and delivering water in support of the field day. Wildland PPE will be required. Departments are encouraged to bring one of their own tenders if they desire.

April 2, 2:00pm- Officials from Nebraska Forest Service, Nebraska National Forest, State Fire Marshals, Nebraska Emergency Management Agency, and Great Plains Dispatch will discuss what their agencies can provide during Wildfire Events. Walk in registration accepted.
