The Nebraska Department of Revenue is offering Taxpayer Education Seminars throughout the Northeast Community College Service Area.

8:30-12:00 pm: General Sales and Use Tax Seminar
This course covers the basics of Nebraska sales and use tax. Sales tax affects everyone! If you are a business owner, or are considering starting your own business, this information is a must for you and your bookkeeper. The topics discussed will not only benefit professionals; the general public can learn how sales tax affects them every day. The presentation covers all areas of sales and use tax, including licensing requirements, exemptions, reporting, and taxable services. There will be plenty of time for questions and answers. 4 hours of CPE Credit available. This course will be offered via distance learning technology from Norfolk to Hartington, O'Neill and West Point.
1:00-4:00 pm: Manufacturing Machinery and Equipment Seminar
This class will cover, in detail, the sales tax exemption for purchases of equipment used in the manufacturing process. Parts and repair labor for MME is included in this topic. Discussion will include qualifying manufacturing operations and which equipment qualifies for the exemption. A portion of the session will be dedicated to contractors who annex or install MME, or perform repairs on MME. Instructors will help participants complete tax returns for a variety of scenarios. This session will benefit anyone operating a manufacturing facility or anyone who provides equipment, parts, or repairs to manufacturing operations.3 hours of CPE Credit available. This course will be offered via distance learning technology from Norfolk to Hartington, O'Neill and West Point.
