Event description

Description

Between the planets of our solar system, millions of small, rocky objects called "asteroids" orbit the sun. In this talk, we'll discover what an asteroid is, what we can learn by studying asteroids, and what could happen if one of them were to strike Earth. Join us for an open house and presentation by Mary Hinkle '10 followed by a planetarium show. Wine, coffee, tea and refreshments will be provided and the 1930s Beck Telescope will be open for viewing, weather permitting. There is handicapped-accessible parking adjacent to the observatory. Other visitors are requested to use campus parking lots. A golf cart will run between the parking deck on S. McDonough and the observatory before and after the presentation.
