Description

Join the Alamo Council of the Navy League of the United States for this CAM event - a tribute to the men and women who serve in the nation's Sea Services. The Navy League of the United States was founded in 1902 and is comprised of 43,000 civilians in more than 245 councils around the world working to support sea service members and their families. The Navy League has three missions: to enhance the morale of active duty personnel and their families; to inform Congress and the American public on the importance of strong sea services; and to support youth through programs such as the Naval Sea Cadet Corps, Junior ROTC and Young Marines who expose young people to the values of our sea services.

Our guest speaker is Captain Brad Lee, the first operational Commanding Officer of the USS SAN ANTONIO (LPD-17). He attended North Carolina State University and graduated in 1987 with a Bachelors degree in Chemistry. He was commissioned an Ensign through Navy ROTC. He has be assigned to a multitude of ships and shore commands including the USS KANSAS CITY (AOR 3); as an Officer recruiter in Raleigh, North Carolina, instructor duty in Newport, Rhode Island at Surface Warfare Division Officer School; the USS BUTTE (AE 27); the USS NASSAU (LHA 4); and on the staff of the Commander in Chief, Atlantic Fleet. After this tour he attended the Naval War College where he earned a Master’s Degree in National Security and Strategy. Upon completion of the Naval War College, Captain Lee served as Executive Officer in USS GERMANTOWN (LSD 42) and USS HARPERS FERRY (LSD 49) in Sasebo, Japan; as Chief of Staff to Commander Amphibious Squadron Eight; and as an instructor at Tactical Training Group Atlantic. Captain Lee next served as the Commanding Officer in USS SAN ANTONIO (LPD 17), in Norfolk, Virginia. Captain Lee was the first operational Commanding Officer of the San Antonio Class of ships. He then served as the Branch Chief for Global Strike for the Deputy Director of Global Operations on the staff of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff; as the lead for the Director’s Action Group for Navy Irregular Warfare (OPNAV N3/N5); as Commodore of Amphibious Squadron Eleven, forward deployed to Sasebo, Japan; Senior Research Fellow, CNO's Strategic Study Group; Principal military advisor and Chief of Staff to the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Operational Energy; and is currently assigned as Executive Assistant to the Director of Expeditionary Warfare on the staff of the Chief of Naval Operations.
