When Arlo came out as non-binary and began socially and medically transitioning 3 years into our long term relationship it was huge!
Up until that point we had both been identifying as lesbians in a same-sex relationship and it requred an enormous financial, mental, and emotional shift.
My family, my friends, the internet, everyone told me it wasn't going to work. That one of us transitioning and the other being cis would break our relationship. Thankfully we soildered on through but we've learned a lot along the way.
Three years later Arlo has had top surgery, started testosterone, and identifies as queer; and Rosie realised she wan't a lesbian after all and identifes as queer (or bi/pan). Indivually we're both the happiest we've ever been, and our relationship is stronger than ever.
