Panel Moderator:

Scott N. Miller, CEO & Cofounder, Dragon Innovation, an Avnet Company

Scott has been fascinated with hardware since he was old enough to hold a screwdriver. He worked on a robotic tuna fish at MIT, life-size robotic dinosaurs for Disney Imagineering, and robotic baby dolls with Hasbro prior to joining iRobot where he was responsible for leading the Roomba team to scale the functional prototype to high volume product of the first 3 million units.

Since founding Dragon Innovation, Scott has enjoyed working with hundreds of companies to provide expertise from DFM to factory selection through project management and sustaining engineering.

Scott received his Bachelor's from Dartmouth and Master’s from MIT.

Panelists:

Lisa Somogyi, Director of Business Development, Cooper Perkins

A mechanical engineer by trade, Lisa is now in a business development role at Cooper Perkins where she can combine her passion for engineering with her natural tendency to meet new people. Lisa loves the process involved in identifying and matching the needs of potential clients with the skills of our engineers while keeping a pulse on which industries are moving forward with interesting new technologies. She gets excited to learn about the tools that are available to aid our engineers in bringing client ideas to realization. Lisa keeps her mind fresh by following her two dogs along the river or the ski trail.

Chrissy Meyer, Partner, Root Ventures

Chrissy Meyer has spent the past decade taking hardware products from early concept through high-volume production. After getting her MS in Electrical Engineering from Stanford, she led several projects at Apple and Square. She was also a founding team member at Pearl Automation, a vehicle technology startup. She has developed products that have shipped tens of millions of units, and she has spent over a year on the ground in Asia working closely with manufacturers and suppliers. Chrissy recently joined Root Ventures, a seed-stage hard tech venture capital firm, as a partner. At Root, she invests in deeply technical teams that are solving problems in robotics, hardware, industrial automation, AI, and machine learning. Outside of work, Chrissy is a sleep-deprived mother to a sixteen-month old daughter.

Nick Pinkston, Founder & CEO, Plethora
