Event Details

This one-day workshop trains participants in how to better plan for the permitting and environmental review processes for projects in the San Francisco Bay and California’s coastal zone. The event draws on the combined regulatory compliance and project management expertise of the presenters and their successful experience permitting and managing wetland restoration and infrastructure improvement projects in the San Francisco Bay and central coast of California. The course will include an overview and discussion of natural resource laws typical of California’s coastal environment, as well as a discussion of how to best integrate and coordinate multiple environmental review processes.

 Workshop Goal

Train participants in how to better plan for and integrate the permitting and environmental review processes for projects in California's coastal zone. 

 Workshop Objectives 

1. Develop a basic understanding of the natural resource laws that apply to projects in California’s coastal zone, including San Francisco Bay.

2. Discuss opportunities to integrate environmental review and permit processes.

3. Discuss strategies for completing a successful permitting effort

Training will be led by experts in permitting, Dr. Renee Spenst and April Zohn

What are my transport/parking options getting to the training?

Public transportation does not easily access the Tiburon Center, carpooling is encouraged.

What is provided?

Coffee, lunch and light breakfast snacks will be provided, along with hand outs.

All course materials will also be made available electronically.

 What is the refund policy?

If you cancel prior to 4/7, registration fees will be refunded.  We cannot refund registration fees for cancellation after this date. However, please let us know if you cannot attend, so others have the opportunity to register.  If you pre-register but do not pay by 4/3, 5 p.m., we cannot guarantee your spot.  We reserve the right to cancel or postpone this event should we receive insufficient registration by 4/3. In that event we cancel the training we will remit a full refund.

We have recently merged our Wetland Science Program with the SF Bay NERR Coastal Training Program. The new program will continue to host top notch professional trainings and offer technical assistance to decision makers, consultants and practitioners throughout the Bay Area. It is a joint program of the Romberg Tiburon Center, SFSU and their partner the San Francisco Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve.
