Providing advice and tips to current and prospective college art students about how to make the most out of their 4-year in art school.

About this Event

Every attendee will receive access to a free spreadsheet listing various paid art internships, fellowships, mentorships, and apprenticeship programs in New York.

In this workshop, we will cover the following topics:

Navigating Internships - paid/unpaid

Using volunteering to gain experience

The importance of understanding the business side of running an art practice

Making use of resources provided by the school (studios, equipment, software)

Treating your senior year as a self-directed MFA program.

Building a professional portfolio in your junior and senior year. (Doing more than required)

Managing finances while in college

This workshop is sponsored by Haiti Cultural Exchange, through their Lakou Nou Residency program. The Lakou Nou Residency provides four artist of Haitian descent with the opportunity to create and present new work by connecting their skills and talents to four historically underserved Brooklyn neighborhoods, home to generations of Haitians and Haitian-Americans: Crown Heights, Canarsie, East Flatbush, and Flatbush.
