About this event

  • Event lasts 3 hours
  • ALL AGES
  • Free venue parking

As a part of Kansas City Women in Tech’s Navigate Careers in Tech summer series of events, we’re happy to announce this Resume Workshop event! Your resume is a key tool in telling your story and this workshop is built specifically for those in (or entering) technical roles.

We’ll begin with a 15-minute expert panel featuring recruiters, hiring managers, and resume writers who work in tech. They'll share insider perspectives on:

  • How resumes are actually screened (both by humans and applicant tracking systems)
  • Industry-standard formatting and what technical hiring managers expect
  • Common red flags to avoid, especially in technical resumes

After the panel, we’ll break into small working groups for hands-on help tailored to your situation:

  • No Resume Yet? Start from scratch with templates and extra volunteer support to help you build a strong technical resume.
  • Time to Update? Make real-time edits and get immediate feedback from professionals with experience hiring in tech.

Please bring your current resume (if you have one), a laptop, and any job descriptions you're targeting. Our resume experts will be available to answer questions and provide feedback during the breakout session.

Space is limited to 30 participants. Register early to reserve your spot!

We expect all participants to be kind, considerate, and respectful within our community. Read our code of conduct at kansascitywomenintechnology.github.io/CodeOfConduct/. This code of conduct applies to participants of all ages, all KCWiT events and spaces, online and off, public and private.
