About this event
Purpose: To honor the French History and Culture of Nauvoo, Illinois. Events: Friday, July 1st- Pick One or Do Both- 5:30-9:00 p.m.-Wine/Grape Juice Tasting at the Press House Winery with Music by Royal Bliss-Free or 6:00 p.m. Riverboat Ride - $16 -45 minutes - go to Nauvoo House Hotel at Parley and Water Streets. Saturday, July 2nd: at ( the Inn at Old Nauvoo) 9-10 a.m. Free-Opening Talk by Randy Soland- "Who were the French Icarians?" 10:30 a.m.- 11:30 a.m.-Free-Walking tour of the French Icarian Properties and visit to the Weld House Museum. 12- 1:30 p.m.- Visit to the French Cambre House (Talk by Rebecca Williamson, President of the Nauvoo Historical Society) with box lunch provided- $15 , 2-5 p.m. - Check out the shops, historic homes, state park and river views on your own, 5-5:30 p.m.- Check out the old cars at the Cruise For Kids by the Old Grade School on Mulholland Street, then at 6 p.m. back to (the Inn at Old Nauvoo )- $30 for evening events -A history talk "The Importance of the French to the Success of the American Revolution" by Dr. Tim Roberts, historian at Western Illinois University, French dinner by Chef Ellen, Music by Sami Scot, Dancing by the Historical Merriments, 9:30 p.m. go to the Nauvoo Temple Site to hear the Nauvoo Orchestra and watch the fireworks by the Nauvoo Temple and Mississippi River.Sunday, July 3 -8:30 -09:30 a.m. -Free-Leisurely Bike Ride around Nauvoo (6 miles) led by a member of the Nauvoo Bike Club and/ or 12 -1 p.m.from Baxters Winery - Tour de Nauvoo Bike Race ( 2 miles) -$20 .Prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd, place- then 1:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m.Free - Baxters Winery tour and wine and grape juice tastings, music by Sami Scott.
