Event description

Description

Learn how to get started or to improve your skills in nature journaling – observing and recording your observations of nature. First, Susan will present some concepts and techniques of nature journaling at a session in the Clubhouse. Next, the participants will be directed to find individual locations on the nearby beach to observe nature and begin their journals. After approximately 45 minutes on the beach, the participants will return to the Clubhouse for a discussion of their experiences.

This workshop is open to 14 to 18 year-old students. It is free and limited to 25 students.

Susan Lovelace is a retired educator who lives in the South Beaches of Brevard County. She has led numerous nature journaling workshops, including very popular ones hosted by Pelican Island Audubon Society. Susan is the founder of Imagine Outside, a non-profit focussed on nature journaling.

Participants should come prepared to spend 45 minutes on the beach. Preparations include proper clothing, sunscreen, insect repellant, beach chair or towel. Notepads, pencils and water will be provided.

This workshop is being held as a part of the Ocean Reef Beach Festival. Come prepared to visit the exhibits in the park after the workshop.
