Friends Who Are Going
Event description

Description

We'll retreat from the hectic hustle and bustle of city life in order to slow down and access a sense of tranquility while connecting with the land.

Forest bathing, also known as forest therapy, is a contemplative practice that helps people to connect to nature. We'll bathe our senses in the healing qualities of nature, share our experiences, and end the walk with a snack and a short Q & A.

We'll leave refreshed by a contemplative practice that we can carry into our everyday routines.

We'll meet at the A.D. Barnes Sense of Wonder Nature Center, set within one of the few remaining Pine Rocklands in Miami-Dade County. The 8.5 acre preserve has become an oasis for migrating birds and, according to the National Audubon Society, is one of the best places to see birds in Miami.

Enter the park by on SW 72nd Ave. To get to the Nature Center (marked as "Miami EcoAdventures" on Google Maps) turn left at the entrance and drive north all the way until the road ends in a cul-de-sac. There are about 10 parking spaces adjacent to the building.

Please wear closed-toe shoes and comfortable clothing, and bring your water bottle. We will go out even if there's light rain so you might pack an umbrella. The trail is relatively shady but feel free to bring your sunscreen.

We will have light refreshments. If you have any allergies or food restrictions, please email the organizer at driftwoodwalks-at-gmail.com

This experience is offered in connection with the art exhibit I.R.M.A., organized by sculptor Robert Chambers.
