Event description

Description

Think of the last time you interacted playfully and creatively with the environment. Was it as a child, or more recently? Have you lost your connection to the natural world, surrounded by man-made structures and set timetables?

This workshop allows you to spend time in John Forrest National Park, surrounded by the sights, sounds, smells and textures of nature.

You can expect to:

  • Reconnect with the environment in a meaningful way, slowing down, observing and rediscovering yourself as part of the landscape.

  • Walk and sit in a natural setting outside the usual art studio, which permits a different kind of interaction with materials and naturally invites you to work closely with the environment.

  • Use the natural elements found there to create a small installation, take photographs, draw, and above all feel the rhythms of life.

  • In the second part of the workshop we will move inside to work with clay in a deeply reflective and intimate process.

Please bring drawing materials and a camera to document the day. We will normally proceed, except in the case of storms, so please check the weather and dress accordingly. We advise comfortable clothes and suitable footwear, as well as bringing snacks and water.
