Are you a practitioner working in Nature and Health? Join our next Practitioners Network meeting online on Feb 16, 2021 2 -4.30pm
This meeting of the Practitioners Network follows BNSSG being chosen as a test and learn region for the development of Green Social Prescribing. We are delighted that the bid was successful after many months of work towards this by NHP, and that NHP will have a voice into how it develops.
At the meeting we will be discussing next steps for the Network and accreditation. As always, there will time for catching up, for discussions on collaborations and emerging opportunities, and an update on work on the natural environment in the West of England.
We are also happy to report the formation of a new subgroup for professional health workers (details below) in addition to the existing Diversity subgroup.
The field of Nature and Health has gained growing interest in recent years with a growing evidence base of the benefits of the natural environment for our health and wellbeing, emerging approaches and a developing service provision across the UK. To support this growing movement in the West of England, the Network aims to provide space for a wide range of practitioners working across Green Care, Eco-Therapy and other nature-based health and wellbeing services to:
- Access peer reflection, networking, support, learning and CPD;
- Establish some of the key standards and quality assurance needed for partners, funders, commissioners, participants and practitioners to feel that they are offering a safe, effective and professional service;
- Build connections between practitioners, prescribers and funders; and
- Find out about updates and collaborate with the WENP Nature and Health Strategy Group regarding local and national initiatives, policy and research.

The Network is facilitated by Michéal Connors of Natural Academy and Emily Malik of Ecowild, and supported by the West of England Nature Partnership.

Subgroup for practitioners in mainstream settings
Integrating Nature into your Practice
Subgroup for any practitioner working in mainstream NHS or community care setting.
NHP is setting up a "subgroup" for people working in mainstream NHS & local authority settings.
Aim: support information and enquiry, to develop good practice, and find out what others are doing locally.
It will link to and support the developing Green Social Prescribing BNSSG project when that is set up by building on the work of NHPF over the last few years.
You may be working in direct or front line care, a nurse, health visitor, social prescribing link worker, wellbeing practitioner (IAPT), GP, public health practitioner, social worker, psychologist, therapist, OT, teacher, social prescriber, psychiatrist, commissioner etc or training to become one of these?
Join an initial discussion meeting on Wednesday February 3rd 4:30 -5:30 pm. Contact: alankellas@doctors.org.uk for more info or joining details
