2014 Naturally Redefined Natural Hair and Holistic Health Expo
Naturally ReDefined, LLP is a natural hair and holistic health company owned by Tywanda Howie & Akira Grenardo located in Delaware with a mission to redefine how women of color embrace their hair and beauty by providing events and educational workshops to the general public. What started in 2011 under the name "Delaware Naturalistas" with a Facebook group of 20 women has developed into a multi-social media portal with a presence on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIN, Blogger, Instagram, Pinterest, its website and email communiations with a reach of nearly 20,000!
Naturally ReDefined has hosted multiple events ranging from a natural hair show, a DIY mixology workshop, natural hair meet ups, hair stying demonstrations, private seminars, served on panel discussions and more. The work of Naturally ReDefined has been featured on Essence.com, in The News Journal, Delaware Today, University of Delaware Messenger, and on Comcast Cable. In 2012 the company hosted it's first natural hair expo which drew more than 400 women from Delaware and the surrounding states (NY, NJ, PA, MD, DC, VA) to Newark for a day filled with vendors, workshops, a blogger/vlogger Q&A panel, live entertainment, and ended with a natural hair show competition. The expo brought Naturally ReDefined nominations from the 2012 Black Awards in the categories of: best Women's Organization and Best Community Event. Naturally ReDefined has received past support from Carol's Daughter, Shea Moisture, Curls, Jane Carter Solution, Miss Jessie's, Karen's Body Beautiful, Beautiful Textures, Curlformers, EDEN Body Works, LAMIK Beauty, Mozeke, Jessicurl, Taliah Waajid, Doo Gro, State Farm, University of Delaware's Center for Black Culture, Natural Review, Coco Curls, Natural Girls Rock, Firstline, Texture My Way, Alikay NAturals, OYin HAndmade, Hot Head, Obia Natural Haircare, Aunt Jackie's, Newark Natural Co-Op and more.
In 2013, the 2nd annual expo, held more than 800 women of color and was moved to its current location, the Clayton Hall Conference Center in Newark, Delaware. That year, Naturally Redefined was invited by Carol's Daughter to serve on a panel of its HBCU College Tour at Lincoln University. Tywanda Howie, original owner of its former company DeNaturalistas, holds an MBA in Marketing Management and a BA in Journalism and works as an Assistant Director for a Non-Profit. Akira Grenardo is the Program Coordinator for a local community development Non-Profit in Delaware.
