Announcing the first workshop of our 2017 workshop series!
In this workshop we will focus on making and applying natural paints with easily accessible, affordable and safe materials. Using common kitchen ingredients like flour, milk, and eggs, in combination with clay, chalk, lime, and pigments, we will make a variety of different types of paint!
Natural paints are a great addition to any home. As an alternative to more expensive, latex based, non-voc paints, these paints can not only keep your house free of more toxins, they can also help sequester toxins already floating around in the air of your home! Many people dont know, but even when using non-voc paints, there are other toxins still in those paints and many come from the pigment itself. By using a natural paint with earth based pigments we will be empowering ourselves to choose the materials we want to expose ourselves to.
This workshop will be led by Andy Sahn, who has been using natural paints and plasters for 7 years. His experience with different recipies, techniques and styles has been derived from working with some of the top natural builders in the country.
Please bring a bag lunch, a paint brush if you have one, and an open mind!
