Course Description

Introduction to natural language processing including formal language theory, statistical methods, probabilistic models, hidden Markov models, computational linguistic, machine translation, speech recognition and synthesis, spoken language understanding, question answering, conversational agents, and human-machine interaction.


About this course

This course provides introduction to the field of Natural Language Processing. It includes relevant background material in Linguistics, Mathematics, Probabilities, and Computer Science. Some of the topics covered in the class are Text Similarity, Part of Speech Tagging, Parsing, Semantics, Question Answering, Sentiment Analysis, and Text Summarization.


What you will learn in this course?

Demonstrate the knowledge of formal language theory, statistical method, probabilistic modes, hidden Markov models, computational linguistic, machine translation, speech recognition and synthesis, spoken language understanding, question answering, conversational agents, human-machine interaction, etc. Practice examples of natural language processing and open source tools, and implement example natural language processing applications.
