Event description
This weekend course will focus on the survival and scouting skills of our ancestral past.

About this Event

This weekend will focus on the survival and scouting skills of our ancestral past, using earth-based materials to make natural containers to both carry food and gear. Students will learn basic skills to track and trap small game, bird, and fish (There will be no live processing of animals in this workshop, the skills are only for educational purposes). This training is life-saving skills needed for holding and transporting resources, as well as to acquire food and sustenance in a survival situation.

Natural Containers and Animal Trapping/Tracking Awareness is an elective course in the Herbal Medics Scout Program.

Day 1: Natural Primitive Containers - We will be focusing on containers and packs.

On Saturday, we will focus on the simple methods of holding materials in an austere environment, working with the materials from local ecology. Students will create burn bowls and spoons, cordage and basketry, bark containers, learn to make natural nets, and construct burden baskets to carry all of our materials and tools we create in.

Day 2: Primitive Trapping and Tracking - Primitive Trapping Basics and Track Awareness

One Sunday, students will learn how to build primitive traps for an emergency or survival situation for small game, bird, and fish. We will also explore track awareness and basic animal tracking.
