SUMMER CAMP FAQ’s

- Questions about summer schedule -

Q. How are these 6 weeks of summer camp such a good deal?

A. $100/week for a full day of camp is an exceptional bargain for summer care! This deal is only possible through the generosity of our stewardship parish. Our parish continues to be blessed. Through your participation in tithing and the Annual Pastoral Appeal, we have been able to keep more offertory here at home, and the Church can sponsor a great program like our afternoon camp. Fr. Tapp encourages all our families to continue to attend Mass all summer long, and thanks you in advance for your continued generosity and tithing to the church offertory and contributing to the Annual Pastoral Appeal.

Q. Why is there no camp the weeks of June 10th, July 1st and July 29th?

A. June 10th is Vacation Bible School. VBS is another awesome experience, and we encourage everyone registering for summer camp to enroll in VBS as soon as that registration releases early March. Check the parish bulletin, website and app for news later this spring.
- July 1st is the 4th of July week, and with the holiday in the middle of the week with many families on vacation and traveling, we encourage our own staff and their families to enjoy this week with their families.
- July 29th is our teacher’s classroom preparation and training week for the 2019-20 school year, and we would not have space available for camp.

Q. What about Coach Callaghan’s Basketball Camp and Volleyball Camp?

A. Coach will still host those focused and fun sports camps independently, and as they are a highly specialized skills camp for those sports, they will be independently hosted and priced as they always have been, and will be separate from the general summer camp program or after camp program. Basketball camp will be the week of June 3rd. Look for Coach Callaghan to release that information this spring.

- Questions about camp itself & logistics -

Q. When does drop off time in the morning begin?

A. 7:50 am at the Multi-purpose room in the Youth Center (where Extended Day is.) Please have your campers try to arrive by 8am. Park by the Youth Center and walk your child in each morning to check-in.

SPECIAL NOTE FOR WEDNESDAY MASS DAYS, If your child has not checked into the MP room by 8am they will remain in the MP Room until the Summer Camp group returns from Mass. This is done to avoid multiple interuptions to a shorter daily Mass.

Q. What time is pickup from morning camp?

A. 12 pm in the Multi-purpose room in the Youth Center (where Extended Day is.)

Q. What time is pickup from afternoon camp?

A. Anytime from Noon until 5:30pm in the Multi-purpose room in the Youth Center. Please be aware that $5/minute will be assessed for late pickup.

Q. Do I have to pack a morning snack?

A. No, morning snack will be provided.

Q. Do I have to pack a lunch and afternoon snack if my son or daughter attends after camp?

A. YES, send your camper with a lunch. We have snacks, but if they're particularly fond of a particular treat you can send that too.

Q. Is there a dress code?

A. Think dress down day apparel like during school. We recommend a cool and comfortable t-shirt, shorts and campers must wear athletic shoes (no sandals nor flip flops) so they can fully enjoy and participate in all activities. You’ll receive a camp t-shirt for your camper, but they aren’t required to wear it every day. No clothing with offensive graphics or text will be allowed.

Q. What is the camp daily schedule like?

A. After our campers arrive, we will have morning prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance. Each camp grade group will rotate through stations/centers of fun, themed, classroom-based activities, instructional time, and playground/physical activities time. Since we’re a Catholic Summer Camp, we also plan on attending Mass on Wednesday mornings with our campers.

Q. What is after camp’s schedule like?

A. Lunch will be held from 12:00-12:30/45pm depending on the number of students attending. After lunch, there will be recess time for all and then nap time for the PreK camp. The K-2 and 2-4 camp will then have the opportunity to work with our staff on their summer homework, summer reading, and any online summer work. Later in the afternoon, we will provide the opportunity for the campers to have their afternoon snack, and camp will function much like Extended Day, but a SUMMER version with various outdoor water games, activities, and fun. We will wind down each afternoon with quiet reading time and/or movie time.
