Event description

Description

Celebrating its 25th anniversary, Native Voices at the Autry continues to pave the way for Native theatre on the American stage by bringing Native playwrights to the Autry for a ten-day residency, where they are partnered with directors, dramaturgs, designers, and actors to explore their scripts. Public staged readings at the Autry and La Jolla Playhouse invite your response to these new plays in process.

Don’t miss Lee Cataluna’s (Native Hawaiian) uniquely told Flowers of Hawaii, Tara Moses’ (Seminole Nation of Oklahoma) exploration of what makes a person Native in Quantum, or Kalani Queypo (Blackfeet, Hawaiian) and renowned composer Kyle Puccia’s (Seneca) Missing Peace, a new play with music that asks, “Can we dare ask for happiness?”
