About this event

This two-part workshop will be held on May 8 and May 22 10:00-11:00 AM.

In this series we will gather and explore how native plants can play a role in tending to our nervous systems and well-being in an accessible way. We will discuss the different ways we can incorporate native plants to our landscaping, gardens and healing process.

Please note that this series is offered as a live Zoom event and will not be recorded.

Blanca of Mama Maiz is a queer, non-binary herbalist, traditional medicine practitioner and land tender. They have been sharing herbal knowledge and traditional medicine for over 10 years in so-called Long Beach, Tongva land. Blanca tends to native plant habitat in the city, as an educator Blanca brings youth and people if all ages out to (re)connect to the reciprocal relationships to land, flora and fauna. Blanca is co-founder of autonomous community space Flora y Tierra and land tender at Willow Springs Restoration Park as the Native Plant Manager.
