Important Note: You DO NOT need to print a ticket for this event... even though Eventbrite will tell you to.
The City of Palo Alto and Acterra are partnering to host volunteers for National River Cleanup Day at Adobe Creek! This annual events brings communities together throughout the state to clean California's beaches, lakes and watersheds. Join us as we canoe and walk Adobe Creek to remove trash and recyclables and enhance our waterways.
Where: We will meet at the parking lot at 3803 East Bayshore Road, Palo Alto.
What to bring: Please wear appropriate attire for working outdoors - long pants, sun protection, etc. are highly recommended. Please also consider bringing your own gloves, buckets, and reusable water bottles to help reduce our footprint at the event. (But don't worry, there will be extras available if you don't have them.) We will provide canoes, life vests, paddles, and snacks.
Waiver Form and Minors: Due to the potential hazards this event entails, all participants must be at least 10 years of age. All volunteers under the age of 18 must bring an additional waiver form signed by a parent or legal guardian before participating in the cleanup; minor waiver forms are available in English and Spanish. Please note that many volunteers will be in boats and spreading out over a large area of creek, therefore youth should be accompanied by a responsible adult. Hazards typically encountered in the creek include poison oak, sharp objects, and deep pools of water.
