National Nutrition Month: Vegetable Gardening & Seed Magic

In honor of National Nutrition Month, the Food & Nutrition Department wants to help you put your best fork forward. What better way than with vegetables grown in your own garden!
We will again be hosting Jacqueline Bruhn, lifetime master gardener, who will give a 2-part community talk on Vegetable Gardening and Seed Starting.
Part 1: Successful Vegetable Gardening (March 21)
Learn how to plan your garden, prepare your soil and plant. Choosing vegetable varieties as well as composting will be covered. Bring all of your garden questions!
Part 2: Seed Magic (March 27)
You will first learn to save seeds from your garden for planting in future years. Then you will learn and practice techniques for seed starting at home.
The snow date will be April 11, 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the event that either session is cancelled.

About the Presenter:
Jacqueline Bruhn is a Strafford County Master Gardener. She has been guiding gardeners of all ages to grow more of what they love to eat for over 15 years. In California Jacqueline developed garden curriculum for elementary schools and helped maintain and grow a vibrant community garden in downtown Oakland. She currently grows vegetables, fruit and dahlias in Durham and is trying to extend the growing season under plastic. Jacqueline's philosophy of gardening is grow what you love to eat and always remember that your garden is a great place to experiment.
