Event description

Description

National Nanny Training Day is an initiative organized by Nannypalooza.com to promote awareness of the important connection between nanny training and quality care. On Saturday, April 29 nannies in over 30 event locations in the US, UK, and Australia will gather at training events designed to meet their unique needs. Here in the Twin Cities, we will be holding the first ever event and we couldn’t be more excited. The Twin Cities event is hosted by nannies from Twin Cities Professional Nannies and Minnesota Nanny Network groups.

Schedule

10 AM to 10:15 AM - - - Registration and Networking

10:15 AM to 11:15 AM - - - Session One: The Power of Play with Chelsey Bahe

Chelsey will share her journey to becoming a play focused nanny. She is one of a small number of playworkers* in the United States, and has been active in the adventure and nature play movements here in the Twin Cities. What does play really mean? Chelsey will explain what play is in its purest form, and why it is one of the most important parts of a child's development. We will learn to easily tell the difference between adult-led activities, and child-directed play. We will conclude with time to play together with loose parts!

*A playworker is someone who supports children in creating their own spaces and opportunities to play

11:15 AM to 11:30 AM - - - Break

11:30 AM to 12:30 PM - - - Session Two: Basic Infant Care with Carolyn Stulberg

This Nanny Coaching Team Educational Video features Carolyn sharing her vast experience as an instructor on the subject of infant and newborn care. You’ll come away with a greater understanding of infants and your role as a primary caregiver. This information is a fresh look at infant care. Carolyn founded the Alexandria School for Nannies and Newborn Care Specialists in 2007, becoming the first and only State certified program for Newborn Care Specialists in the United States. She recently moved the school from a classroom-based program to an online format to meet the needs and resources of the workforce.

12:30 PM to 1:30 PM - - - Lunch, Networking, and Door Prizes

1:30 PM to 2:30 PM - - - Session Three: Nanny Panel with Kari Ewest, Marie Spott, and Connie Wegner

Three seasoned nannies share their experiences with the group through a question and answer session. You’ll hear their responses to the questions you pose. Please submit questions to nntdtwincities@gmail.com or reply to the follow-up email we'll be sending you.
