Welcome to National Nanny Training Day Seattle 2013
The Northwest Nanny Association
National Nanny Training Day Seattle will be happening on Saturday, April 20th, 2013 at Sunset Hill Community Club in Ballard.
This training is designed to help nannies address the unique challenges of working in a private home, improve and expand their childcare skills, stay current on new trends and resources within this unique field and connect with their peers. Our National Nanny Training Day event offers a unique mix of education, resources and networking in an informal and welcoming atmosphere.
Nannies can attend this one-of-a-kind event for only $30 (We can hardly believe how cheap it is either!) Registration includes “learn today, use tomorrow” workshops, morning refreshments, a goodie bag full of great stuff, a delicious box lunch, networking and of course, FUN. There will also be an optional social event following the close of the training.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER 9:15-10:45
Topic: Toys, Crafts, Chemicals and More--What's Safer for Kids with Gail Gensler
Practice identifying safer toys, crafts, chemicals, and plastics
- Sharing a checklist of actions to take that will reduce toxic exposures in the home/child care
- Learning about the Eco-Healthy Child Care® Program
- Sharing resource materials that the nannies and families can use to learn more
SESSION 1 (choose one) 11:00-12:00
Topic #1 Pediatrician Talk- How to be the first line of defense with Dr Melissa Closs-Brewer-
Ever wonder what temperature is ok for a baby vs a toddler? Notice a rash on babies fingers and toes and wonder "Hmmm, should I alert someone about this?" This session will help you to be the first line of defense for the children in your care. Melissa Closs-Brewer, MD will answer all of your questions and more!
Topic #2 Sleep Smarts for Nannies from a Gentle Sleep Coach with Julie Kennedy
Learn the simple steps to successful sleep training with 16 year sleep training veteran Julie Kennedy! Pick up some new skills and put an end to the "no napping blues"

Topic #1 Child Passenger (Car Seat) Safety with Sue Emery
We've all had to wrestle with a car seat! Learn the ins and out of current Washington laws regarding car seat safety. Sue Emery will squeeze as much information about car seat safety as humanly possible into one hour!
Topic #2 Love and Logic -The basics and Putting an end to whining and arguing with Lorri Reynolds
Do you find yourself nagging, pleading, bribing or counting to three? Do you feel frustrated, stressed or angry? Are you tired of arguing, begging, tantrums or just refusing to cooperate? Your day doesn't have to be filled with stress and struggle. With some fun techniques taught by Lorri Renolds, you can up the odds of working with a happy family, great relationships with your charges, a lot more fun and a lot less stress!
Topic: Next Steps for Nannies with Annie's Nannies
Ever wonder how to take that next step up the career ladder? What skills are families looking for? Join our sponsor Annie's Nannies for a discussion on ways to work towards a Family Assistant, Personal Assistant or Household Manager position. We've even invited a few guests Alison Fischer & Christi Zemke-who have successfully worked their way up the ladder to share their story.
We know that picking your workshops (for session 1 and 2) won’t be easy! You do not need to pre-register for the workshops- we are making the information available so you know what your choices are and can decide ahead of time which ones most interest you.

**Please note that you must choose from one of the above lunch options. At this time, we are not able to offer any substitutions, but you are more than welcome to bring your own food if you have specific dietary requirements that are outside of what is being offered.
Registration for NNTD will close on Wednesday 4/17/2013. You will be able to purchase tickets at the door for $30 (cash and exact change only) on the day of the event, but if you do, lunch will NOT be provided.
