National Nanny Training Day Pittsburgh 2017
Sat, April 29, 2017, 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM EDT
The Professional Nanny Association of Pittsburgh, in partnership with Nannypalooza and Homework Solutions, is proud to bring you Pittsburgh's 4th National Nanny Training Day.
National Nanny Training Day is held to recognize the needs of young children and to raise awareness of the positive correlation between nanny training and quality care. This national initiative is part of Week of the Young Child, an annual celebration sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
With events across the country and in England, Australia, and Switzerland, we are sure to feel the collective spirit of the day. Expect to meet and chat with local nannies, hear from local experts, enjoy a delicious lunch, and mingle with sponsoring agencies at a meet and greet immediately following the event.
This year we will return to the Early Learning Hub, a classroom style space where early childhood educators can gather to receive the resources they need to provide children with the best possible early childhood experiences.
Nanny and Wellness Coach, Carrie McCann, will share her expertise on conflict resolution. Good communication is a skill every nanny should practice to bring ease and positivity to our work. Through her experience as a social worker, Carrie will give us some great insight to use with the families we serve.
Fran Wood, a local Nanny will join us to discuss early intervention and behavior. Breaking the stigma with information and experience, we will all be able to use this information in our careers as professional nannies. Fran will provide tools and tips for many ages to help us better encourage our charges.
Amanda Gross, author of the blog, Mistress Syndrome, will guide us through a deep exploration of race, gender, and class, giving us more nanny-know-how tools through self knowledge for the wellbeing of our charges. As advocates for all children, this is sure to be beneficial for how we encourage them to advocate for one another.
Integrative Yoga Therapist, Felicia Lane Savage, will invite us to partcipate in a Yoga for Caregivers workshop, giving us tools to use for our own self- care. There is no doubt that being with children takes a toll on the body. Learning how to re-align and practice self care is a definite necessity.
**If you wish to participate (we highly encourage it,) please wear something comfortable and secure. If you have a yoga mat, feel free to bring it with you! Those who cannot/do not wish to join in the movement are strongly encouraged to watch the class so you may get the information to use when you're ready.
