About this event
NATIONAL DAY OF RACIAL HEALING CIRCLE: WHEN PATHS CROSS
What happens when our paths cross and we’re entangled by the bondage that is racism? We’ve seen it all too often — strangers meeting during some of the most tragic moments to ever happen to a life. Lives changed, dreams shattered and families heartbroken on account of systemic racism that has left our institutions and communities the recipients of gross devastation.
Chicago is in crisis, and its root is racism. The living legacy of racism in Chicago hurts us all, and if we think it bypasses us, we only need to look at friends, neighbors or co-workers to see the lingering effects. Racism is the root cause of our city's violence. It steals resources that should be used equitably to ensure basic human rights: housing, food, education, and clean air & water. Racism hurts our health, our economy, and our reputation.
Racism knows no bounds. Manifesting through many forms of trauma, it destroys anyone it can, posing a threat to us all. Ironically, racism doesn’t discriminate and neither should we.
You’re invited to join Public Narrative and Organic Oneness for a community healing circle that invites empathy to heal us all. Bring your bagged lunch for this special event.
Together we’ll address what it takes to reclaim our beautiful city without racism.
