About this Event

The All Healers Mental Health Alliance (AHMHA) and the Institute of the Black World 21st Century Black Family Summit invite you to National Conference on Culturally Competent Response to Disaster.

Given the increasing frequency of man-made and natural disasters, there is an urgent need to expand the capacity of AHMHA and its partner organizations to assist communities affected by natural and human-caused disasters. The conference will provide educational opportunities for attendees to:

  • List stages of disaster and resources available to communities to alleviate suffering;
  • Identify effective strategies to facilitate culturally competent responses to the mental health needs of vulnerable communities in the aftermath of disasters; and
  • Specify the critical elements of disaster preparedness that communities need to undertake to mitigate the impact of future disaster.
