The Capitol Hill Forum is organized in partnership with the Office of Congresswoman Barbara Lee and Congresswoman Yvette Clarke.

The opportunities for Caribbean Community Leaders and Friends of the Caribbean to discuss the state of emancipendence in the Caribbean and ongoing efforts of the African diaspora to escape the legacy of the trans-Atlantic Slave Trade.  Speakers will be chosen from across the African Diaspora.

                        The Potential Role of the Diaspora

Senior Executives from the IDB, World Bank and other agencies will report on projects such as the ACCESS AMERICAS, EPIC, Compete Caribbean and other projects aimed at promoting Caribbean development and diaspora engagement.  Ministers and Senior Policymakers will provide updates on diaspora policy Updates will be provided on funding opportunities for diaspora investment in the Caribbean region.

Congresswoman Barbara Lee, Congresswoman Yvette Clarke and other Caribbean American elected officials will bring their message regarding work underway in the areas of International Trade, Security,  Financial Services, Small Business, the Jobs Act and Student Loan Reform.  The anticipated outcome of the participatory forum will be a commitment by interested organizations to partner under a shared vision to execute action and advocacy.

Aimed at young professionals or graduate students interested in careers in international development, and/or public policy, or social enterprise.  Youth will present papers on their projects and ideas that could be funded. Updates on development programs for youth in the Caribbean will be also provided.
