Join us at the Natconsumers Design Jam to help create sustainability-oriented solutions to reducing energy use in the home. At this expenses-paid workshop, you’ll get to meet and work with designers from across Europe and professionals from the energy field, whilst enjoying a stay in the beautiful city of London.
Our society is dependent on and addicted to energy. We consume a lot to get comfort in our homes and to get our devices and appliances running. From watching TV and surfing the web, to cooking and washing, to lighting and heating. We consume a lot. We need energy. Yet, we know energy is not infinite. Nor neutral for the planet. We know we need to transform our production as well as our consumption models. And of course, this is to be done both at global level and at local level, at a societal level and at an individual level.
At household level, it may mean changing some old overconsuming appliances or insulating your homes or changing your lightbulbs, but it is also a question of changing our habits and behaviours. How could we be more reasonable consumers? How could we adapt our behaviours towards more responsible and sustainable uses of energy? We know this is the hard part.
In Natconsumers, we believe that by making good use of the energy consumption data that are provided by smart meters (home measuring devices), we can come up with creative ways to provide users with tailored feedback in natural language. No technical language, no jargon, no complex tables and charts. Just natural language. Feedback that fits to the user and is relevant to them.
We believe that to build really user-friendly and user-centred solutions this calls for a lot of creativity and design skills. That is why NATCONSUMERS is excited to announce the NATCONSUMERS Design JAM that will be held in London.
You have design skills? You're interested in developing sustainability-oriented solutions that fit with users' needs? You'd like to take part to a European research project and see what it's like?
