Learning Objectives:
At the end of the presentation, participants will be able to:
- Define the term “culture” and explain widely researched concepts related to culture.
- Describe how:a) their own cultural backgrounds contribute to assumptions about human behavior and b) this cultural “shaping” influences their clinical practice.
Participant Skill Level:
Targeted audience includes graduate psychology students, licensed master's-level professionals, and doctoral-level psychologists.
Continuing Education Opportunity:
Type I CE: 1.5 Hours of CE hours are approved through the Tennessee Psychological Association (TPA) for those present for the entirety of the presentation (12:00 P.M. and 1:30 P.M).

About Dr. McKeon:
Dr. Adrianne McKeon is a psychologist at Psychology Nashville, a private practice in Nashville, Tennessee. She has a Masters Degree in Cross-Cultural Psychology from Brunel University in England and earned her Counseling Psychology Doctoral Degree in 2012 from the University of Houston. Originally from Puerto Rico, Dr. McKeon is interested in multicultural issues in counseling and spiritually informed therapy. The majority of her clientele are Spanish-speaking families and individual children and adults. She also conducts psychological evaluations for immigration purposes. Dr. McKeon is a lifelong learner who is passionate about advocating for her clients through community relationship building and continuous competence development.
