Description

Homeschool students ages 5-15 are invited to explore the world of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math through free, interactive, NASA supported lessons!

Discover how NASA Wallops uses aircraft to complete scientific research! You may even meet a pilot!

Friday, October 20, 2017. Afternoon session 1:30-3:30 (there is also an morning session offered). Students and families may arrive and register 30 minutes before the program start time.

PARENTS - While your students participate in homeschool science programming, you have the opportunity to participate in a professional development workshop using NASA Education Resources and Content in the Educator Resource Center located on-site at the Visitor Center. Registration is required and space is limited.

Call (757) 824-2043 or e-mail amy.l.barra@nasa.gov for more information.

Parents are required to stay on site during the program, or arrange for another adult to act as a guardian for their student(s) during the event.

If you miss this event, please check our website or facebook page for STEM Saturday: Engineering Challenges events as well as lots of other free public events!

NOTE: You are REQUIRED to provide your child's age and name so we can create name tags and age specific groups. If you require your children of different ages to be together in a group, you must contact us upon registering, All children will be moved into the youngest child's age group. Previously age groups have been divided like this: red group- ages 5-7, yellow group- ages 8-10, green group- ages 11-13 and blue group- ages 14-15. These are approximate break downs, age groupings will depend on the number and ages of students registered and level of activities for each event. All activities will take place in and around our facility.

We understand that many families have children outside the required 5-15 age range. Younger/ older siblings are welcome at the event, however they will not be able to participate in the activities. Any children registered as a Younger/older sibling will not recieve a name tag, be placed in a color coded group nor will they be provided materials or instruction for the activities. They are more than welcome to tag along, watch any presentations or activities and explore the Visitor Center during the program.

If you register for a course, and your plans change please notify us as soon a possible. These are very popular events and we always have a waiting list. Families who register and do not attend an event without sending us a cancelation notice will be subject to removal from future program registrations.

*Please note, all programs are subject to cancellation due to launch operations*
