Event description

Description

It’s a defining time in America, and one that requires listening and learning from our communities in new ways.

The Mission Forward® Fall Gathering, Narrative Change, will help you do just that.

Rather than another conference of leaders discussing solutions of the moment, this event puts the real-life experiences of members of our community at the center of the conversation.

First, we’ll engage in a lunchtime conversation designed to connect all attendees on issues of immigration and education, even across perceived divides.

Then, we’ll take on the issues with a panel of experts: award-winning journalists on the front lines of immigration and members of our community who have experienced, or are currently experiencing, its effects. Together, those perspectives will challenge the way we respond to, prioritize and solve problems.

We’ll close with a powerful keynote conversation featuring NY Times best-selling author Anand Giridharadas whose new book “Winners Take All” challenges us to consider whether we are inadvertently perpetuating the social problems we seek to solve.

Prepare to be surprised. Prepare to be honest. Prepare to be moved.

What To Expect

  • Business leaders will understand how changing demographics will influence how business gets done.
  • Philanthropists can examine investments against a backdrop of a changing America.
  • Educators will learn what’s working in our public school systems and what students of today feel they need to thrive.
  • Residents can better understand the changing demographics and potential of our region.
  • And all will learn how diversity, equity, and inclusion can help increase problem solving abilities—and walk away with concrete ideas for how to translate those values into action.
