Event description

Description

Public speaking is a talent you can discover. Whether you plan to pitch a project at work, want to be more comfortable speaking in public, or simply want to express your thoughts well to a small group, you are the narrator of your story. Delivering that message in a compelling manner can be the difference between capturing your audience and captivating them.

Join us for an inspiring day of lively conversation and interaction at the charming Parlour at Mann's Chapel and learn to:

  • Tell stories where everyone wins
  • Cut conflict and spotlight common cause
  • Focus on your main message
  • Deliver clear thinking
  • Cut the lecture and make a connection with your listeners
  • Move from thinking into action

Drawing on time-tested presentation skills and modern story-telling techniques, we will help you learn to develop a strong narrative and deliver it well.

The workshop will include discussion, conversations, exercises, and practice. The intimate location provides a safe and supportive venue to learn new methods and practice your public speaking skills. A catered lunch and coffee are included in the workshop cost.

The workshop is limited to 30 participants to ensure that you get the personalized feedback and tools that will help you, no matter your current public speaking experience.

Join us in November and take your story to the next level!

Why should I come to this workshop?

Our brains are wired for stories and good stories are the best way to receive and retain information. Whether you’re putting together a professional powerpoint or speaking to a group of volunteers, you’re looking for ways to make a strong connection with others. We’ll break down some presentation basics and give you tools to apply to your specific situation. We know that speaking in public can be a scary experience and our goal is to give you a way to deliver your message.

What should I bring?

You may want to bring a notebook or something to write in, but everything you need for the workshop will be provided.

Will there be food?

Yes! We have worked with our caterer to deliver you an elegant and delicious lunch and coffee service. Vegetarian options will be available, and we will relay any special dietary needs to the caterer.

What is the dress code?

Whatever makes you comfortable. You may want to walk on the grounds during the day, and we recommend some layers since the space is airy and it is November. Otherwise, casual to suits, whatever makes you feel like your best self!
