Event Details

 

 The 2019 NanoCon Mk. VI Science-Fiction Convention, begins on Friday, March 22, 2019, with the NanoCon International Film Festival (NIFF). The week-long film festival will be highlighting winning films from the more than 1700 NIFF independent film submissions.  Beginning at 5 PM on Friday, March 22, 2019 join celebrities and other guests at the NIFF Red-Carpet Premiere in the Wollenberg Auditorium. Festivities will include food and drink. The Wollenberg Auditorium is a 525-seat performance auditorium in the Rose Center for the Arts at Lower Columbia College. 

Main activities for the NanoCon Mk. VI convention activities will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2019, from 10 AM – 10 PM, in the Health & Science Building on the Lower Columbia College campus in Longview, Washington. Other convention activities, including a space-station escape event, a wide variety of food services, vendor spaces, and much more will be held in various locations on the Lower Columbia College campus. 

This year’s convention includes special guest host Doug Jones, major film actor whose film portrayals include notable characters such as Abe Sapien, Saru, Amphibian Man, The Silver Surfer, Fauno, Pale Man, to name just a few.  The NanoCon Mk. VI Convention also includes workshops, guest presentations, panels and discussions, tabletop games, live action role-playing games, a console and PC gaming room, vendors, and artists.  T-shirts and posters will be available.  Cosplay is encouraged and valuable prizes will be award to winners of the Cosplay Contest.  Whether you are a science fiction fan or just curious, there is something for everyone.

The club provides support to Lower Columbia College students through peer-to-peer activities, club-to-club support, and financial support through the B&IT Cookbook Scholarship Fund. Club sponsored internships, event planning, and service learning activities provide support to the college and the community. Finally, the club promotes the value of communication through sponsorship of student-led publications.
