NAGPRA Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act Presented by the Native Learning Center in Williamsburg, Virginia November 14-15, 2019

The Native American Graves Protection and Reparation Act (NAGPRA) was passed by Congress on November 16, 1990 yet it is still often misunderstood and misapplied. This course will provide a guide for the application and enforcement of the law and regulations of NAGPRA today. Participants will gain knowledge about NAGPRA from the time it was enacted to how it is functioning today.

Course Objectives:

A) Participants will learn how to find the applicable law and regulations of NAGPRA

B) Participants will be able to identify what type objects and situations are covered under NAGPRA

C) Participants will learn the process of what happens when NAGPRA is applicable to their situation

D) Participants will gain perspective and guidance as to the Administrative agency that oversees NAGPRA
