Event description

Description

This year, 2018, marks the 105th Anniversary of the Saint Paul Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). This is also the 50th anniversary of the most significant time in America’s history, 1968.

The evening of April 26, 2018, we will mark this auspicious occasion with a Return-to-GRACE, (Green, Reproducible, Affordable, Clean, Energy, an efficient way to revitalize economic prosperity and development in our communities), Freedom Fund Banquet.

As one of the oldest branches in the country, it is fitting to have this event to remind us of the mission of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP): “to ensure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate racial hatred and racial discrimination.”

Our Return-to-GRACE Freedom Fund Banquet will provide an opportunity to motivate and inspire us all to stand with the hundreds of thousands of NAACP members and supporters across the country and with your continued financial support this will be an incredible kickoff into our next one hundred years of service.

Dr. Charlotte Keys will deliver our keynote address. Dr. Keys is the current Columbia, Mississippi local Branch NAACP President and Founder/CEO of Jesus People Against Pollution (JPAP), a Faith-Based Environmental Climate Justice NGO that began in 1992. Dr. Keys is also President of Smart Women Fund, a native of Marion County, Columbia, MS, advocating for relocation and lifetime environmental, primary health care access for the impacted citizens in the community. As a seasoned civil rights activist and national leader, we believe her message will be well received in our community.

The evening will include several awards, including the Saint Paul NAACP Lifetime Achievement Award, given in recognition of significant civil rights contributions and achievements in our community.

We are inviting you and/or your organization to join with other corporate and community sponsors of our Return-to-GRACE Freedom Fund Banquet. Doing so is a proud acknowledgment of your support of the work of the Saint Paul Branch of the NAACP and sends a strong message of that support to our entire community.
