Event description
The NAACP Dekalb County Branch 5192 will host its 4th Annual Juneteenth Celebration

About this Event

Juneteenth is the oldest known celebration commemorating the ending of slavery in the United States. Word didn't reach the slaves of Galveston, Texas, until June 19, 1865, when an army of two-thousand Union soldiers, led by Major General Gordon Granger, arrived and informed them of their freedom. The slaves were so elated that they broke out in a celebration now known as "Juneteenth". Since then the observance of Juneteenth has spread across the United States and beyond with a range of activities, such as festivals, parades, barbeques, rodeos, etc.

This great day of fun will take place on Saturday, June 20, 2020 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Come join us as we continue in tradition with a celebration of History, Culture, Music, Spoken Word, and Fashion. This year’s event will feature an online Fashion Show (registration is required) and the Juneteenth Slide. Sponsorships and Celebration Ads are available at an affordable price. HURRY! SPACE IS LIMITED.

We welcome all DeKalb county residents, as well as friends, family and associates of DeKalb county residents, to attend this historical event. Admission is FREE but you must register to attend. For more information contact the branch office at (404) 241-8006 or info@naacpdekalb.org.
